400 Thousand Euro Audi Rs6 Stolen and Burnt

The one of kind Audi Rs6 Avant that was stolen in an armed robbery on Wednesday night in Amsterdam has been found in a city called Nieuw-West. The one of a kind car was being used for filing at the Piet Hein Tunnel, not far from the petrol station where it was stolen by armed robbers. 

 

The car was stolen in an armed robbery at the Kriterion gas station in Jburglaan on Wednesday night around 11:00 p.m. The robbers threatened owner Douwe Leitner and a cameraman with a firearm, firing several shots into the air, and took off with the car.

 

The car used to belong to world famous Swedish professional free-skier Jon Olsson. The car was a custom build by Jon Olsson. The custom Audi RS6 Avant was a wild station wagon with a DTM-inspired body kit and an engine modified to a claimed 1000 break horsepower. The car was stolen and thereafter burned to the ground by the thief’s at the end of their joyride.

 

The police are currently doing an investigation at a parking garage at Nachtwachtlaan in Nieuw-West. According to the media reports, a fire broke out in the parking garage around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. The fire destroyed two cars, including the exclusive sports car, and damaged another.

 

It is believed that the Audi was set on fire and that the fire then spread to the other cars, though this has not been confirmed by the police.

 

The criminals weren't too clever, though, because they didn't think to grab the key from the owner's pocket. That would have made the Audi much more difficult to start again, if they shut it off. Although, that apparently never became a problem. Somehow in the chaos, the robbers' van caught fire, and they got away with the RS6.

 

 “I feel terrible. As you may know, such a fast car is very popular with criminals. There is therefore a chance that it will be found somewhere burnt out.” Leitner said to media after the robbery.

 

The Audi is worth about 400 thousand euros and is the only one of its kind in the world, according to Leitner. He told media that he finds the robbers setting fire to his car “entirely useless” as he was intending to sell the car after the filming had been completed. The car is insured.

 

On Instagram, professional skier Jon Olsson, who owned the car before Leitner, expressed his regret about what happened. “You will be missed but never forgotten”, he writes.
