One factor that Google looks at when it comes to determining whether to rank your website higher or lower in search, is bounce rates. That’s how many people go to your website, and then bounce right off. If they are leaving right away, that means that they are not finding what they are looking for.
Firstly, you need to show your product and content first. If people are coming to your website because you are an ecommerce store, make sure you showcase your products. If they are coming to your website, because you are service orientated, or an informational site, make sure you showcase the text first.
Try and keep all important content above the fold and a clear call to action right in front of the user at all times. Making your content more visible to the user will lower your bounce rate.
Next, make sure your text size is large enough. When your text size is too small, it increases your bounce rates, as it is hard for people to read, especially on mobile devices.
Make your website very minimalistic. Try and keep huge sidebars, with massive call-to-actions to a minimum – showcase your content more, to decrease your bounce rate.
Cross link – Linking between all pages of your website decreases your bounce rate, as people are more likely to click on a link and visit other pages on your website easily.
Add in images, images are visually appealing and it keeps people there. You can use other type of content such as videos, or audio files, as long as its engaging, it will decrease your bounce rate.
If you do these things, people will stay on your website longer, your bounce rate will go down, and you will rank higher in Google over time.
