KFC's New Meal Box Lets You Charge Your Phone While You Eat - But There's a Catch

The so-called "Watt A Box" will let you recharge your phone over some fried chicken, but it's not available everywhere.
When it comes to bizarre, tech-infused marketing stunts, we have to hand it to KFC.
The Colonel's restaurant chain has already come up with a disposable bluetooth keyboard and a bucket with a built-in printer.
Now it's showing off a meal box with a built-in USB socket that charges up your phone.
Dubbed the "Watt A Box", it includes an "integrated powerbank, allowing customers to charge their phones while eating".
So if you want to make sure you've got enough power in your phone to snap a picture of your finger-lickin' chicken, KFC seems to be the place to go.
Sadly, it's not something you're likely to see in your local fast food outlet any time soon.
The box was dreamed up by Indian digital agency Blink Digital and is only available as a limited edition in selected restaurants in Delhi and Mumbai.
But rest assured that, according to tech site BGR, the actual charge offered by the gimmick isn't much.
"We put an iPhone 5s to charge, which gained 17 percent battery after charging for half-an-hour. But the downside was that the power bank was drained during this process," BGR wrote.
Still, it's an interesting concept even if it's not particularly successful.
With so many of us carrying smartphones and other gadgets around these days, should restaurants make more of an effort to provide us with a charge? It's up for debate.
