New Headphones Promise To 'Transport' You to another World

New Headphones Promise To 'Transport' You to another World

Promising a 3D immersive experience, a new device that will make anyone feel like they are in 'another world'.

The option of time travel is a myth for us mere mortals (yet), but how about transferring yourself to any time or place using just your ears?

A new, 'revolutionary' pair of headphones promise to do just that, by completely changing your listening experience.

OSSIC X, a headphone that measures the side of your head and shape of your ears, developed by Tech company OSSIC, in San Diego, California.

It customises audio playback for the wearer by using a changeable algorithm.

In addition, four drivers in each ear will beam sound around your ear for "accurate sound placement within the 3D sphere around you."

OSSIC claims the device will make sounds seem to originate from outside your head and stay in a fixed space, creating an "incredibly immersive experience”.

"The mission at OSSIC is to take the final leap from reproduced audio to something that's indistinguishable from reality."

With these new headphones, OSSIC promises a new experience for users watching films or listening to music.

The 3D audio headphones have been put on Kickstarter in an effort to crowdfund the project.

Developers primarily wanted $100,000 (£70,000) to get the project underway, but have surpassed this by quite some way, with 6,891 backers pledging a total of $1.7m (£1.1m).
