Some scientists propose a theory that a dead T-Rex contains prehistoric DNA could one day aid in the resurrection of these ancient creatures.
The fossilised body of a pregnant Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) has been discovered sparking ideas that it could be possible to clone these creatures, similar to the plot of the famous movie “Jurassic Park”
The 68 million-year-old T-Rex was found in Montana and was found to have a certain type of bone found in pregnant dinosaurs just before an egg is laid.
According to Lindsay Zanno, assistant research professor of biological sciences at North Carolina State University, "it's possible" the dead dinosaur could contain DNA - a chemical which contains the building blocks of life, as she explained to Discovery News.
It is not yet possible to clone a dinosaur using the latest technology we have today however, it is believed that one day the DNA may be used to bring these creatures back to life.
"We have some evidence that fragments of DNA may be preserved in dinosaur fossils, but this remains to be tested further," says Zanno.
In 2015, a palaeontologist named Jack Horner said it could be possible to clone dinosaurs without even needing DNA, which has proved difficult to find intact.
He told the LA Times that Dinosaurs were related to modern day birds, which could potentially allow scientists to manipulate the genetic code of a hen and turn into a "chicken-o-saurus".
"For me, creating a dinosaur is the biggest project we have," said Horner.
"I know we can do it. It’s like the moon project. We know we can do it — it just takes time and money. And we will get it done.
"We will make a dino-chicken-like animal pretty soon. We’re moving along pretty quickly."
