Robot solves rubrik's cube in under 2 seconds

A few IT wizards, qualified in Computer Engineering have successfully built the world’s first Rubrik Cube solving robot, claimed to solve the complex puzzle in just under 2 seconds. 
 
The machine was developed by engineers Jay Flatland and Paul Rose using webcams, an ingeniously built “turning platform” which holds the cube, and a highly advanced algorithm (a procedure or formula for solving a problem). 
The “turning platform” was built using the parts from 3D printers, and each side of the Rubrik’s cube was drilled to allow the cube to be firmly mounted to the custom built apparatus. 
 
A total of 4 webcams mounted on each side of the apparatus where used to calculate the exact positioning of coloured squares hence determining what moves are needed to be calculated by the algorithm. 
 
The intelligent pair “hand built” the code used in the algorithm which calculates the moves required to be made by the “turning platform” in just fractions of a second. 
 
The current record for solving a Rubrik’s cube is 3.253, and there’s no doubt that these 2 engineers will have any trouble breaking it. In the following video, one may see exactly how the machine works, solving the puzzle in under 2 seconds. The 3 times are 1.196 seconds, 1.152 seconds, 1.047 seconds and 1.019 seconds. An average of well below 1 and a half seconds.

Lucas Etter holds the current record for human solving the Rubrik’s cube in just 4.9 seconds which was demonstrated in the River Hill Fall competition in Maryland, 2015.
